Specialisation, PNL’s prescription against the crisis

When the market weakens PNL continues to specialise at the parcel market in the Nordic countries. The result has been quick growth and a record result.

PNL has during the last four years increased its turnover with approx. 13 per cent per year.  At the same time the marked has grown with approx. five per cent per year. PNL has grown significantly faster than the parcel market in general. During 2008 the turnover increased with 15 per cent to 1,767 million SEK (1,533) and the result before tax more than doubled to 111 million SEK (54).

An important explanation to the improvement is that PNL is totally focused on the Nordic parcel marked and thus has built up a high competence in this specific field of business. Furthermore PNL benefits from the increasing interest in e-commerce which consequently increases the need of parcel deliveries.

Offensive efforts increase the capacity and effectiveness
At the same time PNL is investing significantly to further improve its network. In March a new, modern main terminal was in operation. The terminal can handle more than twice as many parcels as its predecessor. Another new terminal was in operation at 1st April, this time near Copenhagen airport. The terminal is the hub in the Oresund region.

Soon to become Bring
Next step in PNL’s development is to become part of Bring during third quarter of 2009. Posten Norway created the Bring brand during 2008. Bring consists of six Nordic specialists which are leaders within their respective areas: Bring Logistics, Bring Express, Bring Citymail, Bring Mail, Bring Frigoscandia and Bring Dialogue.
